We’re delighted to be working with Full Time Hobby’s Aidan Knight for the first time!

Aidan-Knight-Gullivers-Manchester

Canadian troubadour Aidan Knight has announced the release of his UK debut Each Other, which will be available 22 January 2016 via Full Time Hobby – and he has unveiled a majestic new track from the album, entitled The Arp.

Each Other was recorded at the Bathouse Studio, just outside of Kingston, Canada, and home to Millhaven Maximum Security Prison. Aidan’s band sequestered themselves in the studio for over two weeks with producer Marcus Paquin (The National, Local Natives, Stars). The band and Paquin were meticulous with each song, piecing together the raw energy of the live show along with the layered textures that could only be captured in the studio. An exhaustive process to say the least which Knight reflects on in saying, ‘Marcus, guided an unruly collection of ideas and a sometimes impulsive person (me) with remarkable patience (Marcus is also a new father).’ Each Other was mixed over a very cold winter by Mathieu Parisian, known for his work with Patrick Watson and Karkwa, and a man familiar with intricately elaborate recordings.

It’s hard to pin down the specific sounds that influence Aidan as Each Other possesses its own unique mood and atmosphere. Challenging yet comforting, a poignant album for our time, steeped in melancholy but with a brittle optimism and ultimately a joyful auditory experience for any true music fan.

Tour support comes from New York-based violinist and composer Hannah Epperson. Armed with her violin, loop pedal and voice, sonic weaver Hannah Epperson arranges beautiful musical landscapes without indulgence or over-saturation. As a stirring solo performer and talented collaborative artist, she has joined forces with a versatile cast of collaborators across a spectrum of genres, including poet Shane Koyczan, Julianna Barwick, Porcelain Raft, We Are The City and numerous others. More recently, these creative explorations have included composing and performing for interdisciplinary film and dance companies across the country and in New York, where she now resides.

Local support comes from David O’Dowda. Formally the front man for alt-folk band Table, and keyboard player with indie band Sizer Barker, O’Dowda now spends much of his time composing music to picture. This year he has just completed composing his first feature film starring Clarke Peters (The Wire). His songs are regularly used on TV promos worldwide – the most notable this year being trailers for Homelands and The Affair. His second EP as a solo artist was written and recorded in a week, and was released late August 2015.
