We’re delighted to welcome Wreckless Eric back to Gullivers!

As Wreckless Eric he needs little introduction — he wrote and recorded the classic Whole Wide World and had a hit with it back in 1977. Since then it’s been a hit for countless other artists including The Monkees, Cage The Elephant and Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day. Eric’s version featured in the 2022 Expedia/Superbowl/Ewan MacGregor travel ad.

As Eric Goulden it’s a little more complicated – a musician, artist, writer, recording engineer and producer, he didn’t like either the music business, the mechanics of fame or the name he’d been given to hide behind, so he crawled out of the spotlight and disappeared into the underground. He went on to release twenty-something albums in forty-something years under various names – The Len Bright Combo, Le Beat Group Electrique, The Donovan Of Trash, The Hitsville House Band, and with his wife as one half of Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby, finally realising he was stuck with the name Wreckless Eric.

His albums encapsulate pop, bubblegum, garage trash and psychedelia. His live performances are a sonic journey through time and space. Eric presents himself alone if not simply with electric and acoustic guitars, and electronics of his own making.

The tour will focus on his new album Leisureland, released August 2023 on Tapete Records.

‘A scarily powerful and forward-moving musical threat’ – Mojo

‘Burns like a lost Crazy Horse classic’ – Shindig!

Special guest is Marc Valentine. Marc Valentine, the charismatic British singer-songwriter-guitarist who last year released his debut solo album to critical acclaim, issues a new single, Skeleton Key, through Little Steven’s Wicked Cool Records – available from 27 October as a limited-edition 7” and a digital download. Produced by Dave Draper (The Wildhearts, Ryan Hamilton, The Professionals), Skeleton Key is a 3-minute 20-second blast of upbeat/downbeat powerpop – a haunting tale of emotional pursuit, with spirited guitar lines and a chorus to die for. Having honed his craft fronting cult pop-rockers Last Great Dreamers across four studio albums, Marc launched a solo career in 2022, his debut long-player Future Obscure picking up praise from an array of publications.

‘Endlessly melodic… simultaneously touching and gloriously rambunctious’ – Classic Rock
