PLEASE NOTE: This show has sold out! Watch this space for future Penelope Isles show in Manchester in early 2022.

We’re excited to be welcoming Penelope Isles back to Manchester!

Penelope Isles are centred around siblings Jack and Lily Wolter, originally from the Isle of Man, and for several years now based in Brighton.

Their debut album Until the Tide Creeps In was produced by the band at the Bella Union studios in London and Brighton. They create dynamic blissed-out moments soaked in fuzz-noise waves – their songs fragile yet ferocious. Indie-psych currents and lustrous melodies blend with the siblings’ voices.

To support the release they played over 150 shows all over the world, including 100 shows in 2019 alone and three tours in the USA. They’ve hit the road with The Flaming Lips, Wallows and The Magic Numbers. Loved by fans, DJs, tour mates and writers, this debut marks them out as one of the most exciting UK bands of the last few years.

Main support comes from Holiday Ghosts. Holiday Ghosts, quit your corporate job, put laptop in shredder, walk away, go outside, remember what the Clean, the Go Betweens and the Modern Lovers once promised you: a life cracked open with fresh new possibilities. Three songwriters revel in lyrics descended down from Ray Davies’ third person tales of landlords, bathing suits, shopping malls, the northstreet air. Based in Brighton via Falmouth on the south coast of England, Holiday Ghosts conjur the airy fun of Richard Brautigan if he had a band and was from England and wasn’t a hippie or a beatnick and he didn’t wear those big hats or have that mustache and his name wasn’t Richard, or Brautigan, and he wasn’t a writer or an artist of any kind.

Opening this spectacular triple bill are DITZ. Formed back in late 2015, DITZ have been slowly building a cult following ever since by playing a long series of increasingly tight and vicious shows all over the UK and Europe. Over the years they slowly released a string of singles, later compiled as the 5 songs EP by Alcopop Records. Their long awaited debut album The Great Regression will be coming out in early 2022 preceded by a string of singles. The first, Ded Wurst, came out at the end of October along with its Jay Bartlett-directed video. The second, The Warden, follows almost a month later to continue the deluge.
