PLEASE NOTE: Due to unforeseen circumstances, this show has been cancelled. We’re hoping to bring James and The Ultrasounds to town in 2019 instead – watch this space.

We’re delighted to be welcoming James and The Ultrasounds back to Manchester!

If you haven’t yet heard James and The Ultrasounds, or seen them live, do yourself a favour and strap in. Brash yet thoughtful with unpredictable guitars, soulful organ and pummelling, yet danceable, Memphis-style rhythm, the four-piece rock and roll band is the brainchild of James Godwin, a long-standing face in the Memphis music scene.

Godwin & Co take you on a ride that blends garage, soul, punk, surf, country and good ol’ Memphis rock and roll. There isn’t anything quite like them in Memphis – or anywhere else.

On the heels of successful tours in the US and Europe behind their debut LP, Bad To Be Here, on Memphis’ own Madjack Records, as well as releases on Memphis-centric 7″ label Misspent Records, James and The Ultrasounds find themselves poised as one of the breakout acts from the Southeast in 2018.

The upcoming follow-up LP on Madjack, None Of The Above (produced by John Paul Keith), serves as a new testament to the band’s prowess, as well as Godwin’s validity as a songwriter. The latest 45 on Misspent, I Get The Shakes b/w Apocalyptic Love, highlights Godwin’s early roots as a four-track/lo-fi enthusiast.
