Hey! Manchester is pleased to be bringing back Portland, Oregon’s Horse Feathers. This lovely bunch of musicians made their Manchester debut in March this year and are coming back for what will hopefully be another successful evening.

Horse Feathers at Dulcimer, Chorlton, Manchester

Justin Ringle moved to Portland in 2004 and began to play regularly under the moniker Horse Feathers. In 2005 Peter Broderick – himself a solo artist and part-time Efterklang multi-instrumentalist – heard two songs that Justin had recorded in a friend’s basement, and proceeded to track him down via the internet. Shortly after that, the two started playing music together. For the most part, Justin writes the songs and then Peter helps to arrange them. Last year’s House with No Home album, on Chicago’s Touch & Go Records, is a huge favourite of ours.

Support for this show comes from Mancunia’s own Samson & Delilah. This duo of Sam Lench and Anna Zweck have just released their eponymous debut album on Little Red Rabbit:

‘From transcendental drone-folk and room-silencing a capella to uplifting songs of love across distance, Samson & Delilah locates the exact point where Lench and Zweck’s unspoken truths find a voice’

‘A snug, warm blanket of a record, it weaves sumptuous folk arrangements with bucolic country-pop, stretching the nu-folk template in exciting and dynamic ways on a par with contemporaries like Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver

‘A band who can thread a range of European roots music together and make it sound unmistakeably theirs… a wonderfully well-woven record’

This show takes place at Dulcimer, Manchester’s celebrated ‘folk bar’ in central Chorlton. Regular buses (85 and 86) run to Chorlton from the city centre, plus the 23 and 23A from Didsbury and West Didsbury and the 168 from Fallowfield. We recommend using GMPTE’s JourneyPlanner to arrange your trip.

Tickets available from the bar, Piccadilly Records, Ticketline.co.uk and on 0161 832 1111.

All shows are 18+ unless otherwise stated.
