We’re delighted to be working with Euros Childs again!

Euros-Childs-Gullivers-Manchester

Euros Childs is a solo artist hailing from Pembrokeshire, south Wales. Having fronted the band Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci from 1991 until their demise in 2004, Euros went solo and released his debut album Chops on the Wichita label in 2006, followed by a further 3 albums for the label: Bore Da, The Miracle Inn (both 2007) and Cheer Gone (2008).

Euros set up his own label National Elf in 2009 and to date has released six albums on the label, including Ends (2011), Summer Special (2012), Situation Comedy (2013) as well as the singles Spin That Girl Around, Tete a Tete and That’s Better. His new album Sweetheart is due out on 2 October, preceded by the single Fruit and Veg.

When asked by taxi drivers, hairdressers or distant relatives what kind of music he plays, Euros replies, ‘It’s pop music with a bit of folk music thrown in, sometimes synthesisers are used, sometimes pianos or guitars. But it’s always rock ‘n’ roll.’

Sweetheart was recorded by Iwan Morgan in Freshwater East, Pembrokeshire back in April and features Stuart Kidd (drums), Marco Rea (guitar), Rhydian Jones (bass) and Laura J Martin (flute).

To mark the album’s release, Euros will tour the UK with his full band, including this stop off at Gullivers.

Special guest is Simon Love, formerly of The Loves. Simon’s debut solo LP, It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time, has garnered praise from almost everywhere, with the Guardian describing it as ‘more early Kinks than the early Kinks’ and Q giving it a 4* ‘very good indeed’ review. The LP consists of 12 songs mostly about love, hate and Elton John. One of them, The Meaning of Love, features Stewart Lee reading the meaning of love from Wikipedia. It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time is out now on Fortuna Pop!
