All back to Whalley Range!

February 16th, 2009 — 3:05pm

For this show on Thursday 19 February:

Alan Courtis/Aaron Moore + Helhesten + Infinite Light + Beach Fuzz

Alan Courtis and Aaron Moore are touring as a duo in support of their new album on No=Fi. The latter plays with Volcano The Bear, who the Wire proclaim as being responsible for ‘producing some of the finest, wildest British music of the last 10 years on record and on stage’.

Helhesten are a three-piece from Deptford/Essex who employ clarinet, beat-up guitar, effected-voice and a variety of percussion to craft an aching flux of soaring and swamped-out sounds.

Infinite Light is the solo moniker of Warrington guitar improviser Barry Dean who has played with the likes of Stuckometer, Axis Mundi, Horse Hair and Beach Fuzz over the past few years.

Beach Fuzz is the stripped-down duo of Tom Settle and Nick Mitchell, playing bowed, scraped and intuitively picked lap steel, wailing, echo drenched fuzz synth, percussion and spontaneously composed vocals.

It’s happening from 7pm in Bernie’s garage at 76 Demesne Road, Whalley Range. There’s a £5 suggested donation. Visit Golden Lab Records’ Myspace for more information.
